Hello, my name is Christine. I am the "shepherdess" at the Sumerlin dorper farm. Larry Sumerlin and I began inquiring about sheep in January of 2010. We were shopping around for a lamb to raise as a pet. We started searching around the area for sheep that were for sale. We came across a breed called "Dorper". We knew nothing about this breed so we started to do some major research. After searching all over the internet for information on Dorpers and sheep in general, we decided that we would buy some dorpers to see how we liked them. So, we went to a reputable Dorper breeder and picked up 2, 6 week old, Black headed Ewes. We got them home, gave them a bath, and began our adventure. By the very next weekend, we were back at the breeder looking to buy more lambs. We fell in love with our 2, and decided 2 were not enough. By the end of January, were had 6 lambs on our farm. We purchased 5 Ewes and 1 Ram. And that is how this adventure started. |
